Ok now let me tell you about Jermaine Lamarr Cole born January 28, 1985, better known by J. Cole, an hip hop recording artist and record producer. Raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cole initially gained recognition as a rapper following the release of his debut mixtape, The Come Up, in early 2007. Intent on further pursuing a solo career as a rapper, he went on to release two additional mixtapes after signing to Jay-Z's Roc Nation imprint in 2009.
J. Cole is the prefect example of where southern hip hop gets shorted. Lets face it we tend to almost get no credit when it comes to what is considered real hip hop. But J. Cole is living proof that there are a lot of nay-sayers who are wrong dead wrong.
With this track I wanted to not only show that in the south we can deliver that needed flavor for hip hop, but also still deliver a hit record. J. Cole helps show this with his story telling and descriptive delivery. So click play let the playlist ride and enjoy.
