Denzel Curry is a highly appraised young rapper. Last year he released his third studio album TA1300 through PH records and has attracted great attention. The 13-track project was expected to be nominated for Grammy's 2019 but it couldn't make it. Recording Academy did not give it a chance. Terrible decision. TA13OO is one of my favorites of all time with its sound, lyricism and the story. The Florida native rapper split the album into three sections:
1. Light: The Beginning2. Gray: The Middle3. Dark: The End Across the three sections of TA13OO, Denzel explores “taboo” topics including molestation, the presidential election, fame, hatred, paranoia, revenge, love, the current state of music and personal tales of his own near-death experiences. It takes a lot to tell your darkest stories, break taboos and change minds. What a perfect way to deliver them with music, right?
"Welcome to the darker side of TA13OO
All I've got is permanent scars and tattoos
Take another step in the path that you choose
Make a bad choice in your path then you lose"
TA13OO is addictive, unflinching, iconic.
We see a brand new Denzel in ZUU. He just cannot create a bad album, every track on ZUU finds its perfect place in a way. It has nothing similar with his significant works like Imperial or TA13OObut still comes through as a great album. Denzel loves to try himself, make changes and risky moves but he never fails to to amaze me. He revealed that he did not write down any of the lyrics in ZUU, the whole project is based on his freestyles. It may not be the greatest lyricisim but those are impossible to be described as bad lyrics. ZUU has so much freshness, genius production and remarkable contributions.
The intro track ZUU that shares the same name with the album is so good that I wish it had lasted longer. I have that strange idea that if even its intro song is good, then the album cannot be bad at all. It is funny but true most of the time. WISH featuring Kiddo Marv is such a summer banger, a killer track to listen to in your open-top car while driving through the coastline. Rick Ross brought the heat on BIRDZ, probably it will catch most of the attention. Young producer Tay Keith made another amazing beat forAUTOMATIC. PlayThatBoiZay wrote a mind-blowing bar for the last track P.A.T and performed it very well.
As a result of the concept of his new experiment, the sound really came out as a surprise. SPEEDBOAT is the highlight of the album. It begins with an amazing sample. Besides his musical creation, Denzel finds his perfect flow in this track too. He is really good at freestyling and word-playing. As it is played more, ZUU's rage suddenly turns into a love letter directly written to Miami. He remembers his friend and young rapper XXX which we lost last year and takes a moment to celebrates his fame and money turning the imaginary into a dazzling reality. You should hear the new Denzel as soon as possible, it is good. He is always good.
If you want your track published on the playlist and see your name above Denzel Curry, you should definitely follow Music to Take Over the Night on Spotify and submit your track through the submission form.
Lyrics:
[Intro]
I went from stickin' pennies in the jar to offshore bank accounts
See me and my conglomerates is lucrative
I'm talkin' big money, big chains, big guns, nigga
More power
[Chorus]
Big talk, speedboat (Speedboat)
Pray to God I don't get repoed (Repoed)
Didn't go to college for a free throw (Swish)
People gettin' killed through the peephole (Blah)
Have your money up before you go to war (Hmm)
Put the mask on like a luchador (Hmm)
My dawg didn't make it to 21, so I gotta make it past 24
Big talk, speedboat (Speedboat)
Pray to God I don't get repoed (Repoed)
Didn't go to college for a free throw (Swish)
People gettin' killed through the peephole (Blah)
Have your money up before you go to war (Hmm)
Put the mask on like a luchador (Hmm)
My dawg didn't make it to 21, so I gotta make it past 24
[Verse 1]
Put a red beam to your head like Arby's
Either go to school, go to jail or the army
Keep a close eye on the things tryna harm me
Warn me if anybody try to swarm me, uh
Invest in the rock and a Rottweiler
Pile up hella stacks when the bills pile up
Dollar is the only way to get the style up
Riled up, catchin' motherfuckers usin' dial-up
My dawg is gone and the result is to have my teflon
Christian Dior and the fashion beyond
Talkin' Polo, call me Polow da Don
Throw some D's on the donk
I got hella keys and the funk
I put hella Gs in the vault
It took only three to assault, damn
[Pre-Chorus]
Jesus, please deliver us from evil
Please pray over all my people
What you see in life's illegal
I don't wanna use my Desert Eagle

Have your money up before you go to war (Hmm)
Put the mask on like a luchador (Hmm)
My dawg didn't make it to 21, so I gotta make it past 24
[Verse 2]
Pourin' out scotch
Gas, all in my brain, it fumigated my thoughts
Thinking 'bout intricate plots
To get out the hood, that's when I started to jot
Not givin' the opportunity to let the devil ruin me, no
Even though the jewelry froze, ice cubes get Deeboed
Word on the street, everything heat
Everything hot boy, Texas Pete
Pulled up in a Lexus and a Jeep
All black, no tag, time for the sweep
Too many guns, too many sons
Lost in the river of blood in these streets
Master of none, pastors and nuns
Let's bow our heads for the ceremony
[Pre-Chorus]
Jesus, please deliver us from evil
Please pray over all my people
What you see in life's illegal
I don't wanna use my desert eagle
