The overall tone of this track, the first time I heard it, sounded sad and emotional, but it showed me meaning. I enjoy interpreting songs and finding out what exactly it’s about and with this particular track I noticed a repeated verse, “It’s the truth, it’s the truth, and it’s a lie” and it made me think of that game: 2 truths and A lie. But the thing is, the song talks about the way we see things. It’s beautiful because it mentions two people wanting to be alone but also how much they miss something. And the way it’s sung just gets me. It’s like a whisper between the singer and the listener – really “ear-catching.”
So could this track be about how we go so far, as to lie, just to hide what we really feel? How can we see the truth behind our emotions if we focus on the lie because we’re too afraid to speak it? This is why I love music. It’s so raw and it helps us speak of the things we can’t say in plain words. Give it a listen.
