God Bless TikTok. My new favorite app. The first sign I’m getting old. An app that has basically replaced vine, a vehicle for short funny videos to become viral. At first, I waved it off, thinking it was a waste of time and something I’m a little too old to be apart of. But my sister, who kept sending me funny and relatable content from TikTok, convinced me to give in and download it. With fear that I was now old enough to consider something a little too young and that I would get dangerously addicted, I took the plunge. And boy, am I glad I did.
The app has me scrolling for hours, sending video after video to friends, curating their viral video content. I hide at my desk, flipping through, embarrassed when caught by a coworker.
Although I love the hilarious videos, TikTok has also paved a path for me to discover new music. Music that I haven’t heard yet but teens have, adding it to the background of their stories. Take Your Man is one of them. Fun and confident, the song is perfect to strut to. Feel your most confident and know that you are a gift and a prize.
If you aren’t addicted yet, good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor.
