Catchy, fun, and yet meaningful. Boom is about a breaking away from a toxic relationship. The pain and anger turns into fuel to get your feet walking out the door. I’ve written before about how difficult it is to see a relationship from the outside. The people in the relationship can’t see things as clearly as those outside of it but people outside the relationship don’t see every true aspect of the relationship. Sometimes, when it’s a toxic one, it’s hard to leave because you see all the good things but it’s also hard for others to understand why you’d stay because they don’t see the good things that happen within it.
But when you finally leave a toxic relationship, whether it’s friendship, family, or romantic, you feel amazing. Maybe a little sad but you’ve made a decision and you’re empowered by it. “Screw this, I’m doing what’s best for me,” you say as your feet hit the pavement, your “fed up” anger driving you out the door.
The X Ambassadors really capture that feeling with music that’s fun and upbeat but has a bit of an edge to it. You don’t have time for the petty things that waste your time. Walk away from it all to this energizing song.
