Prepare to experience the entire gamut of emotions with this genre defying playlist that, just like New England weather, will continue to keep you guessing as to what could possibly come next. Our band, Stone Robot, has painstakingly selected each of these tracks with the intention of showcasing a plethora of artists both classic and contemporary, well-known and obscure, that define the eclectic sounds we love. One minute you will be careening through the heavy, hook laden grooves of Nine Inch Nails and Bloc Party, the next, immersed in the frenetic stylings of Zeal and Ardor. The ultimate objective of this playlist is to send you on an emotional journey, allowing you to experience a myriad of our musical muses both old and new. Ready the time machine as we take you to the past, and then back to the future, destroying chronological timelines. So, strap in, because where we’re going…we don’t need roads. Moving on.

Getting jammed up in genres was something we wanted to avoid when putting together this culmination of tunes. I mean, where else can you find a classic introspective Pink Floyd song, a catchy (but rocking) Santigold track, and a gritty Wu-Tang joint all in the same breath? Right here my good people. In fact, the only commonality amongst the wide-ranging selections is that fantastic lyrical content was a must for us. With the exception of purposely off-the-wall songs like Prodigy’s, Out of Space (which is just plain fun) there is nary a track listed that isn’t teeming with poetic metaphors or hard-hitting lines that can either make you cry, blow your mind, or build enough inner rage to have you feeling like you could run through a wall. Tool’s 46&2 does all of the above for us.

In summation, we ask why you would listen to the same formulaic songs and playlists when you could expand your horizons and dip through multiple facets of melodic inspiration with us? As you can tell, fostering a vast, musical palate is the obvious theme here. So, if we can get you into a killer post-punk, Bad Brains song, and then have you grooving to some poignant hip-hop with The Roots, then it’s a mission accomplished. But we know rollercoaster rides like this aren’t for everyone, which is why this playlist is aptly titled, the New England Weather Mix–because, as the adage goes, if you don’t like it, wait five minutes and you’ll get something completely different (or thereabouts).

We are a band formed out of necessity. Originally hailing from the Greater Western Massachusetts rock scene, we are the remnants of multiple musical collaborations over the years. This group of earthbound misfits were birthed by fire and an unrelenting passion to create. Even if it means we are forced to record an album remotely, and across three state lines, our insatiable thirst for an artistic outlet proves to be too great to be hindered by such petty obstacles. Our sound blends the best of raucous overdrives, dynamically mellifluous drums, crystalline-cavernous synths and a rollercoaster of soul-piercing vocal melodies to deliver surprises of all textures in perfect timing. We don't believe in boundaries when we write our songs. If it sounds cool, we lay it down. Genre be damned. Our debut album, "Planned Obsolescence," is the ultimate culmination of that very philosophy.
