How do you address such a complex issue as racism?
I know wiser people than I have done it and greater people than I have achieved a lot more in their quest for solutions, but since this has been such an important topic of the current time I felt the need to address it in my own humble way.
Every global and collective problem to me feels like a reflection of something each of us needs to heal inside ourselves, I've come to terms with the reality that I can't change anybody else than myself, but in changing myself lies the immense power to connect with others and inspire more change.
Every time we heal ourselves we heal the world and the collective, we like to have a distorted image of ourselves that ignores our true value and our true role as beings to chase for a magnified or minimized version of ourselves, but in our true essence lies the possibility of touching millions of hearts, every little part of ourselves that gets healed helps.
In a subject that has such a painful and destructive history behind it such as racism so many beliefs must be released and many ancestral wounds need to be healed. Our ancestors' pain still flows through our veins, some of them might be still troubled by their wounds in the afterlife, some of them might not have transcended to a better plane.
Ancestor worship is something our societies deeply lack and it has caused the wounds to get constantly perpetuated by the living, our dead are not in peace and it shows in every aspect of our lives.
Every time we heal something that was inherited to us we heal our whole lineage from that wound, we're mirrors of every ancestral wound that hasn't been healed.
Long essays can and have been written on this subject but my intention with this small text and this powerful song to go along with it is just to remind you of the importance of healing, the importance of forgiveness. Forgive yourself and ask for forgiveness for every wound we have as a species, it might be one of the most powerful things you can do for the world.
This in no way intends to minimize the importance of political action and the great power it can have for all the ones who feel truly connected and honored by it (this, obviously stressed by the power of the song I chose for this week). It's just meant to be a reminder that the world is shaped by all our eyes and all our souls and that the solution for all our problems truly lies inside us, seek within and you'll find it every time.
May this be a small homage to the fatal victims of racism and a big reminder to the living to send all our love to them so they can finally rest in peace.
