I remember the first time I listened to this song, it was while watching "500 Days Of Summer" for the first time, a very good movie that I always enjoyed watching. It was so powerfully expressive, not only the scene it took part of but how the two assembled so perfectly bringing such a special feeling to it, the music was so beautiful it got stuck to my soul ever since, it was part of the soundtrack of many of my sad heartbroken moments, the kind of moments that feel like the most painful of the not that transcendental things, the kind of matters which don't deal with mortality, even if, they emotionally kind of do.
The scene was very special, splitting the screen in two parts, one involving reality and the other one involving expectation, both had two storylines so different that it made you feel a bit connected, we've all had those moments in life when the expectation ate us so much that the reality just destroyed us a little, it's interesting to think about it, and to think about how much of our realities are just broken by our minds and the fictions we invent inside them.
Living is a challenge, living in the present and living in reality, because it's so easy to drift apart and start thinking about other realities, other possibilities or events that took place but no longer exist, it's also difficult to realize that memories are not an accurate description of what went down but just our last memory of the subject.
Living in the present is a challenge but it is a beautiful challenge, it is the biggest goal of our lives, the biggest achievement, the greatest accomplishment we can manage to have, the most important action and the greatest treasure we own. Fantasies might be happier but they won't ever be positive, won't ever give anything to us but separation and division of our true nature, they can only become something good if they become our creations, if we turn them into art, like what the director of 500 days of summer decided to do with his own fantasies.
So let's strive to stay present, even if we're fantasizing, we can be in our thoughts but remembering where our feet are. Or tonight let's just melt our souls in Regina Spektor's amazing voice and live happy and compassionate in the here and now.

When you listen to music like this one you also remember what it is to be connected to nature, you remember part of the sound of nature in that organic sound, the wood just resonating to the sound of strings being touched, you remember the essential and feel ready to transport yourself again to the best parts of life.

This song has a special magic to it, it’s not just about the soothing voice or the comforting piano, it’s not just about the beautiful melodies or the precious harmony, not just about a mood or just a sound, it tends to get you somewhere you need to be.
