Uncertainty...
A difficult part of the human condition. A particularly difficult one for me, always eager to have some peace in the calm waters of certainty.
We grow knowing ourselves to be a part of something until the world shakes us up to make us doubt, everyone else making us think something different. We control the connection, do we? We can do automatic writing all we want and expect our beauty to find ourselves, but then our own conscious mind keeps soliciting something from our thoughts, a special quiet and comforting place where we can feel we are safe.
We want to feel safe, we all do, or our little selves especially do. We want to know, we wish we could, because the pain of having doubts makes us desperate.
But some people just don't want us to know, and even if deep down in our hearts we already know everything, they keep insisting in adding doubts to our troubled minds, never confirming or denying that what we were always feeling was true until it is too late to face it in a calmer way.
"Wisdom is knowing what to ignore", but the mind worries about pain, about possible danger, the mind worries about the unknown for it could be difficult to face, so we try to distract ourselves and follow another train of thought, we try to fly above it and discover our unguarded thoughts suddenly returning to it.
We can only expect for the beauty of this world be enough, that this song, as incredibly beautiful and powerful as it is, will be enough to understand life, even if it's just an abstract mess of disconnected ideas. In this beautiful sentiment we unite, we ally, we hug each other and accept that pain is inevitable, and we comfort in that never-ending hug of life and compassion. We, as human beings, are one. We, as human beings, are united, and there's nothing that can unite us more than this pain and this love.
Love and pain, grief.
Grief for every part of this world that gets destroyed every minute, every second. Grief for every life that's lost, every tear that gets shed, every harm and wound, every wrongdoing. Grief, for all of us.
So, we disappear into Debbie Harry's voice, as everything should, we disarm and we fade, we reduce ourselves to purity of sound, we disintegrate into this beautiful moment, this music that captures more of our souls than we could ever wish, we disappear and we unite.
We are one.

When you listen to music like this one you also remember what it is to be connected to nature, you remember part of the sound of nature in that organic sound, the wood just resonating to the sound of strings being touched, you remember the essential and feel ready to transport yourself again to the best parts of life.

This song has a special magic to it, it’s not just about the soothing voice or the comforting piano, it’s not just about the beautiful melodies or the precious harmony, not just about a mood or just a sound, it tends to get you somewhere you need to be.
