You can't put a price on the great gift this band has to create unique soundscapes, these kind of things feel to me a bit more common now with the development of recording techniques and some of the aesthetic trends that have grown to be more popular over the years, the rising popularity of bands like "the xx" has contributed to this and I feel Portishead somehow played a part in all this.
I wouldn't say I'm deeply acquainted with how all these styles and genres have developed but I just feel this music was a bit ahead of time.
It's wonderful how music can connect to us on so many levels, it has the ability to appeal to every part of our beings and see if at least a fiber of us gets moved.
