This song has such a sad atmosphere, Daughter and Elena as a soloist have a gift about being able to express and project that kind of feeling, it makes it especially powerful and gets to my heart so very easily.
Maybe it’s just me, maybe it reminds me of my own sadness, I haven’t asked anyone else about this particular song and other Daughter songs can be a lot sadder in their sound.
But there’s something incredible about the arranged versions that use the strings and other classical instruments, they just reach another level of profound beauty that touches deeper levels of my soul, they give the song such an expressive depth, such a beautiful feeling.
It's strange to me that tonight I haven’t felt the usual goosebumps that I normally feel every time I listen to this, especially the final theme from the strings that guides the song to its closure, I think my inner light is a bit weak today, not ignited in its usual bursts of passion, I guess we all have those difficult days when everything is a bit harder, it’s just a matter of patience and a little persistence, it will all pass.
My only wish is that your inner flame bursts in emotion just as mine usually does, when you listen to this song tonight.
