There are few voices that can cut to the soul as effortlessly as Jordan Rakei's. A veteran talent from New Zealand, I chose this song as it is evident within seconds you're in for a treat. Even those who aren't drawn in by the groovy jazz driven soul instrumentation will be by his soothing voice.
This track starts with the vocals out in front inviting you right in. Forty seconds in the listener is plunged into the velvety depths, surrounded with lush instrumentation and flawlessly layered vocals.
Although Rakei has many songs I could have chosen I picked one of his more popular songs as I feel Its first 10 seconds catch the listeners ear immediately. This song is a beautiful display of technical ability mixed with something that can't be bought, pure soul.
