Passing each other in the hallways, driving past one another on the highway, and exchanging glances at parties are all opportunities we have to reach out and make a connection, yet we remain in the shadows. The forces keeping us at bay are just too strong.
Frank Sinatra sings the story of someone who has taken that leap and been rewarded for their courage. It plays out like a dream – too good to be true. A somber orchestra opens the song, giving way for Frank’s undeniable vocals, only to be taken back by the orchestra in the middle section of the song. The string orchestra sounds like tears, as if there is something wrong with the story book tale that Frank is telling.
This song is motivation. The strangers in the night become lovers, after they both acted on their emotions. We all want this, but don’t know how to get it, but the answer is simple: keep trying.
