Sometimes all you can do is watch your love walk away. There isn’t anything we can do about it, because you cannot make them return your feelings. Therefore you are left with two choices: fight for your love, or move on. Each has their own struggles.
Supertramp’s “Oh Darling”, tells the story of someone who has not moved on after being rejected, and is torn about by their own love. They are unable or unwilling to accept the circumstances, and feel as if they are left behind, reduced to a mere shadow in the light of their love. Their entire life is in shambles as their emotions are pushed to the limit.
“Oh Darling” is a classic rock song done filled with sweet keyboards, lush background vocals, and delicate lead vocals. Occasionally a distortion guitar will fill the air, as if tearing your heart apart. Supertramp is known for their emotional and relatable pop songs, and this one does not disappoint.
You can feel this character’s desperation in his simple, yet constant show of support for the one they love, never putting the blame on their loved one, even though it is their fault the main character is in disarray.
Sometimes we have to move one. Sometimes we don’t want to. And sometimes we found someone so special, that we can’t resist checking their Instagram page, wishing we were in those pictures with them. You just have to figure out which one is you.
