Save A Lost Soul
Soulful music for all of us
featuring artists like
Mella, Jeff Bryant, Chlo Subia, Renn, Gov’t Mule, Karyn Ann
Soulful music for all of us that have a tiny voice inside our heads that sometimes says,
“You’re not good enough” or…
“You’re not alone” or…
“You’re insane” or…
“You’re going to get hurt” or …
“You’re going to survive” or…
it goes on and on.
It’s music that is my best friend.
It’s music that saved my soul.
Let Me Go – Bond Villain
14 November 2017
Music to Save a Lost Soul is thrilled to add Bond Villain to the playlist this week. “Let Me Go” was submitted via our landing page and it was a sonic delight that felt like finding buried treasure! This tune is reminiscent of the mellow style from Panic! At the Disco’s “Death of a Bachelor” album, and some of the a capella operatic stylings of Queen and Freddie Mercury… definitely made for this list.
I Need You (feat. Ehmandah Ramsey) – D Mills
8 November 2017
Today we are proud to share the first of many wonderful songs received by artist submission through Music To Save a Lost Soul. This song by D Mills sparks a vintage feeling groove with this beautiful duet. D Mills describes his track:
That’s How Strong My Love Is – Otis Redding
31 October 2017
With albums titled “The Soul Album” and “The Dictionary of Soul”, Otis Redding, also known as “The King of Soul”, is a name that is synonymous with soul music. His voice is always emotionally charged and powerful. Though there are numerous songs of his that could be featured on this playlist, “That’s How Strong My Love Is” has always been one of my favorites.
What Can I Do (But Love You) – Joy Williams
24 October 2017
Imagine you’ve just hit the play button and you’re transported to the first day of snow in the quaint little town of Stars Hollow, CT. Life is full of hope, your heart is full of love, and you feel like the spirits above made it snow at this very moment, just for you. It’s the perfect time to snuggle up next to someone you love to keep you warm and toasty.
Back to Black – Amy Winehouse
17 October 2017
Amy Winehouse would have been 34 years old this year… a life cut way too short. I will admit that when she was alive, I didn’t pay much attention to her music. I know… that’s a tragedy in itself, but why not? Through the media, all I heard about her was that she was a drug addict singing about not wanting to go to rehab. That seemed ridiculous to me at the time, so I missed out on some soulful and powerful music… but not for long!
Pallar Anders Visa – In Flames
10 October 2017
When I meet people that know I’m a singer/songwriter, most ask me what kind of music I write. The question I enjoy answering most is “What kind of music do you listen to?” My typical answer sounds something like, “Sam Cooke, Freddie Mercury, Chris Cornell, Sarah McLachlan… and a band named In Flames.” Right about then is where I get a “HUH?!”…
Spider in the Roses (feat. Rob the Man) – Sonia Leigh + Daphne Willis
3 October 2017
When you finally get over the loss of a relationship, especially an abusive and manipulative one like I’ve experienced in my past, sometimes you feel like making a badass comeback…
3 Libras – A Perfect Circle
25 September 2017
Sometimes the soul wants to listen to the softer side of a rock band, my soul often does. Maynard Keenan brings the same energy and heart to this song as he does to some of the harder hitting tunes he’s well-known for with A Perfect Circle, or Tool. If you are one to not pay close attention to lyrics, I suggest you listen up to this song.
With a Little Help From My Friends – Joe Cocker
19 September 2017
Most of us millenials (though I’m on the older end of the spectrum) recognize this tune from popular television show “The Wonder Years”. So while I think of Kevin Arnold and Winnie Cooper when I hear this song, I also think of how awkward my own childhood moments sometimes were…
When I’m Down – Chris Cornell
9 September 2017
What can I say? I miss Chris Cornell. I know I’m not alone in that sentiment. His passing affected me in a way that I never saw coming. I had no desire to sing or play a guitar for 3 weeks… that’s the tremendous amount of loss that I felt, and that’s how I know his music belongs here.
My House – Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds
9 September 2017
Picture this: Aretha Franklin’s POWER + Joss Stone’s GROOVE + Janis Joplin’s RASPINESS + a KILLER GUITAR SOLO to match… and you’ve got Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds.
That’s Where It’s At – Sam Cooke
9 September 2017
“The Man Who Invented Soul” and “Mr. Soul”… You just can’t have Soul without Sam Cooke! If you don’t know his music, you’re missing out. He is a major influence on artists in several genres, and if you listen to him, you’ll know why.
