We jellyfish love islands, and a great many of us make our home around the islands of Hawaii. There, from the clear blue waters where Hawaii lives, many of us once heard a voice so pure and beautiful ring out from the land, we will never forget it. That was the voice of Iz.
Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwoʻole was an indigenous Hawaiian singer whose music still reverberates throughout the islands. He was a champion of the rights of Hawaiian people and the restoration and preservation of Hawaiian culture. His premature death at age 38 left the world a much poorer place. His haunting version of 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' - performed solo with just a ukulele and his incredible voice - will change the way you think of this song.
He was very much loved by the people of Hawaii, as witnessed by the some 10,000 people who attended his funeral. Footage from his funeral and memorial, when his ashes were returned to the Pacific Ocean, was included in the video made for this song.

We jellyfish are masters of the art of subtlety. When we hunt, we simply wait for our supper to come to us. Our energy is expended on arriving in the right place at the right time. Preparation and planning is the key. Gauging the movements of the currents, smelling the morsels on the waves…

We jellyfish don’t know anything. You might think we’d be confused by this, but in fact the opposite is true. There’s great certainty in total emptiness. We’re never torn by indecision. We never have to worry about what’s right and what’s wrong. We can just go with the flow and let the waves wash over us…
