The life of a jellyfish is full of trials and tribulations. Predators, food shortages, ruthless competitors, sickness just to name a few. It can sometimes be hard just to keep your head below water -- if you have a head, that is. The successful jellyfish will take it all in stride though. Just keep doing that thing, whatever it is, and maintain a cool, seaworthy temperature.
It's always tempting to think about some kind of cosmic reset. Under ideal conditions, there are jellyfish who can revert back to the polyp stage of life and regenerate, as it were. For most of us, however, there can only be perseverance. At some point, the music will stop and we must take our final bow. In the meantime, just gotta keep doing that thing.
Here's a grand example of just that from the great Les McCann -- doing his thing to the utmost. If you come across McCann's live album, "How's Your Mother," check out the amazing version of this song there also. Hiphop music owes a lot to Les McCann for the very many samples borrowed from his songs.

We jellyfish are masters of the art of subtlety. When we hunt, we simply wait for our supper to come to us. Our energy is expended on arriving in the right place at the right time. Preparation and planning is the key. Gauging the movements of the currents, smelling the morsels on the waves…

We jellyfish don’t know anything. You might think we’d be confused by this, but in fact the opposite is true. There’s great certainty in total emptiness. We’re never torn by indecision. We never have to worry about what’s right and what’s wrong. We can just go with the flow and let the waves wash over us…
