“Hold fast ‘cause the daylight’s coming/It’ll hit when it dawns on you”
Life is but a breath.
If I could summarize short and sweet what I get most out of this song, it’s that life is but a breath – a wisp of vapor disappearing with the wind. The brevity of life shouldn’t make us want to be caught up in the business, content with the normalcy or crippling with the fear that we’ll mess it all up. At least that’s not what I want. I want to make the most out of every day, and that looks different for each of us. However, I do think we all run into similar life lessons. Like reminding ourselves to breathe, or embracing that timing is hardly ever convenient for us, or learning to say ‘yes’ to new experiences even if that means abandoning your sense of comfort.
All these things I’m learning. Then relearning. Again and again.
“If you don’t stop for a while/You might miss a perfect view”
I think that’s my favorite line in the track because often my struggles come from forgetting to slow down. I’ll spend all day running around, doing all different kinds of things, but at the end of the day I’ll ask myself if there was anything I actually accomplished today or was I just going through the motion?
“Wake Up” is a track that gives me a sense of comfort that’s hard to explain… maybe it’s the simple melody that reminds me that we tend to overcomplicate things sometimes. We spend so much time and effort trying to find or be a part of something beautiful, or find meaning in every little thing. But the truth of the matter is our lives will always continue to be a mystery, and beauty is often found simply by living in the moment.

About The Curator - Jordan Yutan
Jordan finds joy in simple things like brunch, naps on the grass, and long car rides with the music on high. Her version of fun consists of dance parties, movie marathons and – of course – karaoke. Music has been such a key part in shaping her spirituality. She believes the first time she felt God reaching out to her was through a song and that still happens time and time again. She sees music as a vessel to vulnerability and will gladly invite anyone to listen, but especially wants to hear the songs in their own hearts. She dreams of visiting cafés all across the world, and meeting all kinds of people over a cup of coffee. But for now, she’s making the most out of college, soaking up the sun in her beautiful campus of UC Santa Barbara.
