What a strange thing, the way life quietly sneaks up on you. Like one minute you’re daydreaming, making lists of what you’re going to accomplish when you’re older, and making plans for a someday. Then that someday becomes today. You soon realize no amount of daydreaming about the future could have prepared you for all the curve balls getting thrown at you and all the decisions you’re being asked to make.
This week’s track “Plans” encapsulates a particular stage in our lives when we feel young, limitless, like everything is at our fingertips. And so we go off into the world chasing after a vision of the person we want to be, a vision for our lives we say we’ll stop at nothing to make a reality. That’s a pretty good description of your 20s if you ask me.
I see “Plans” as a love song all about being swept into the journey of becoming who we are and maybe even who we were made to be. Like falling in love, sometimes we don’t have an entirely clear or thought-out explanation for why, but every part of you is saying, “This feels right.” It’s also a song that reminds us our dreams are not disposable and often that truth is more than enough to keep us going.

About The Curator - Jordan Yutan
Jordan finds joy in simple things like brunch, naps on the grass, and long car rides with the music on high. Her version of fun consists of dance parties, movie marathons and – of course – karaoke. Music has been such a key part in shaping her spirituality. She believes the first time she felt God reaching out to her was through a song and that still happens time and time again. She sees music as a vessel to vulnerability and will gladly invite anyone to listen, but especially wants to hear the songs in their own hearts. She dreams of visiting cafés all across the world, and meeting all kinds of people over a cup of coffee. But for now, she’s making the most out of college, soaking up the sun in her beautiful campus of UC Santa Barbara.
