More ft. Anderson .Paak – Flying Lotus

Quitting is about wanting something MORE. For yourself, from others, for others and from yourself. This latest banger from Flying Lotus and Anderson .Paak takes us on a musical ride like only they can. In particular, Flying Lotus (born Steven Ellison) is uncategorized as a producer extraordinaire. Jazz, electronica, hip-hop, horror soundtracks, Flying Lotus does all of it while doing none of it exclusively. Which makes him a sought after collaborator with artists like Anderson .Paak, who like to push the boundaries of the genres.

This ethereal track starts out with the realization of being in a stalled relationship:

“I finally understood that I was spinnin’ my hoop / Rather spinnin’ my wheels, getting’ up in my years”

The time taken away from achieving more. The chorus shifts to a more introspective approach:

“There’s gotta be more to life than myself”

This theme leads into the second verse, where Anderson details the pitfalls of procrastination:

“And if you would’ve showed me more than one time / It wouldn’t have been clear, I would’ve just played it off like / Alright, I’ll deal with it when it gets here”

The track ends in a daze, lyrically and musically:

“Kinda like a dream the way it all happened”

Sobering and uplifting, this is the song to listen to when you’re ready to quit and move on. When it’s time for more. Anderson .Paak is on a creative roll so far in 2019, and this collaboration with Flying Lotus is just another example. When he closes out the song with “I wanna get further”, I don’t know how much more out there he and Flying Lotus can get. I’m excited to listen to what it will sound like. Give me MORE.
