 Don’t you hate when you see people putting them up in November, before Thanksgiving? I mean, we all love the reminder of the songs we loved, and maybe get hip to some we haven’t heard before, but can it wait until we’re a little closer to Christmas? Of course, I’m talking about those “Best of” lists. This year is a real treat, we get the bonus “Best of the Decade” lists as added sparkle to an already fully illuminated scene. If you’re wondering how I’m above the act of presenting a “Best of” list, I’m not only below it, I’m in the gutter. I LOVE “Best of” Lists. I just want people to wait until we have a full year before we proceed with the anointing.

 To take a break from 2019, I felt it appropriate to dig in the crates for a throwback addition to the playlist this week. “Friday I’m in Love” isn’t about quitting your job, but it’s also NOT not about it either. And this song makes the playlist because of the vibe. Robert and The Cure don’t care about anything going on in the week, speaking like a true unemployed nihilist.

 When I was in between jobs, it was songs like this that got me energized and happy, lifted my mind out of the ditch of depression and on a quest for more. Once you’ve found love, what more is there to find? Employment is one of those things we do whilst finding love, no matter what day of the week you’re looking.

“Friday I’m in Love” was The Cure’s last big hit song, back in 1992. Covered by everyone in almost every genre (waiting for the Trap version), “Friday I’m in Love” is an undeniable classic and a timeless sound. The melody is so perfect Robert thought he stole it and was shocked it wasn’t already done. Add this track to your “Best of all time” list and enjoy the sounds of freedom!
