My real first option was going to be The Hard Way - Pink Floyd just to continue with a wonderful bass, but the lovely spotify didn’t have the immersive box set of the Dark Side of the moon.
So immediately thought “why don’t go with, who I consider the fathers of Indie Rock, The Strokes”. And it got better because I realised there’s something much better than The Strokes, which is Regina Spektor AND The Strokes.
Why I consider them the fathers of Indie Rock? Easy. They started playing this kind of rhythm that is pretty distinctive on most Indie Rock songs now back in 1998. Using a retro logo, vintage staging for their live gigs. They practically brought the best from 70s and 80s, got mixed with a bit of 90’s rock and they were the first vintage in the new millennium. As I said it with last week’s band, even Alex Turner, Leader of Arctic Monkeys, was using a similar guitar at the same height as Albert Hammond Jr. (lead guitar in The Strokes).
This band is a complete box of surprises, their albums showed a wonderful evolution in music, lyrics and all this got strenghen since they got back and launched their EP, Past Present Future. They are sounding completely full of energy and we are all waiting for their new album.
So ladies and gentlemen, The Strokes this week at Open Another Door!

About the curator - Rodrigo Medrano
At a very early age, music had an incredible impact on Rodrigo’s life. He was never able to listen to lullaby songs; instead he was served Guns n’ Roses and Aerosmith for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
At the age of 12, he became a melomaniac, collecting albums, EP’s, recording sessions, and researching every kind of genre. All this helped him to get his first job at a recording studio where he realized his life would forever revolve around sound and music.
Working on cruise ships as First Audio Technician allowed him to let loose his passion and expand his knowledge on psychoacoustics, eventually promoted up to being in charge of sound for the hit broadway shows: Rock of Ages and Burn The Floor.
His music library will never stop growing as his melomania will get worse and worse.
