I remember hearing at the time how this beautiful ballad was created. The Piano melody written first by Mike Mills, then recorded onto a cassette tape, Stipe playing the circular melody over and over while driving around for about a week bought forth the lyrics and attached them to this beautiful tune, describing a time gone by “These things they go away, replaced by everyday”.
The feeling of freedom, does it start in the body or in the mind? Can you feel it in your heart?
Sometimes when we want to feel freedom from ourselves or our situation we choose to free our mind through distraction or a few good old fashioned mind benders. What if instead we chose to free ourselves from predictable physical movement? Can our body show our mind another way to freedom? Swimming in the night under the glow of the Moon, quiet and gentle. The body moves in the water as it can nowhere else, almost weightless, showing us the freedom and beauty of ourselves. Maybe our body knows more than it is saying…..or more than I am hearing?

About the Curator: Erin Murray
Erin, a Mother of 1 little man and wife to 1 big man has learnt much about herself in the past few years. After moving from the city to the bush (near the Ocean), there weren’t as many distractions as she had become accustomed to, in a smaller community she lost her anonymity and slowly began to become aware of herself, her feelings, the life she had created for herself and her relationships with others. Seeking change from the feelings and behaviors which had become her normal, she sought out methods to do just that. Slowly at first, then a bit more and a bit more she is becoming aware of what she actually wants for herself and has begun removing the things that aren’t that, inside and out. Learning about faith (not religionJ), fun and how to be gentle with herself and others along the way.
