Happy?
It is an accepted practice to talk about bad news, what’s wrong with the world, what we don’t like about it and whose fault it is. And it is usually expected that we will listen. I don’t want to listen to blame, I don’t regularly watch the news, I don’t read the paper everyday. I don’t have to accept that what you are saying is the truth, I don’t have to engage in a conversation about what is wrong in the world and who made it wrong. I will talk to you about what is real to you, in a real way. This doesn’t always mean happiness, but it does mean truth.
Does happiness feel like the truth? I started to hear my thoughts when I was talking to people, and by pure reaction I would be someone’s else’s truth, I would nod and smile and say “gees that sounds terrible” or “yeah that guy sux”. Hang on, I don’t want to spend my time talking about this stuff, this and that. I started to take off other peoples truths like jackets….one by one they came off. Tell me about yourself, what do you love doing? Do you love doing anything? Do you know what happiness is to you? What inspires you? Lets talk about that. We can connect in a real way to each other if we want to. Next time you hear yourself talking this and that, check it out – is it a jacket or is it your truth?

About the Curator: Erin Murray
Erin, a Mother of 1 little man and wife to 1 big man has learnt much about herself in the past few years. After moving from the city to the bush (near the Ocean), there weren’t as many distractions as she had become accustomed to, in a smaller community she lost her anonymity and slowly began to become aware of herself, her feelings, the life she had created for herself and her relationships with others. Seeking change from the feelings and behaviors which had become her normal, she sought out methods to do just that. Slowly at first, then a bit more and a bit more she is becoming aware of what she actually wants for herself and has begun removing the things that aren’t that, inside and out. Learning about faith (not religionJ), fun and how to be gentle with herself and others along the way.
