Labels. It seems like everyone uses them for everything. Politics, Fashion, Music Genres. Labels are everywhere. They are boxes to put things in; a way to categorize and organize and keep things in line. And humans aren’t immune from Labels. From a young age, people are provided labels that are harder to remove than tattoos; weird, pretty, dumb, geek, etc. People are labeled and put in boxes for the rest of their lives.
This song is for the people who are tired of being labeled, tired of having to fit in a box. Societal expectations take a toll on most people, and this song calls those expectations out. Isabelle writes her own experience as a plus-size musician, and how society expects people of higher fame to appear: Skinny, perfect hair and skin, the best outfits.
