I am always on the lookout for brilliant indie rock bands featuring frontwomen because it tends to be a male-dominated genre. A couple years ago, I discovered Deep Sea Diver, and not only have they have become one of my favorite bands, but their 2016 album, Secrets, has made it into my top 5 albums list. The lead singer and guitarist, Jessica Dobson, is phenomenal and has performed with several other acts, including Spoon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Shins, Beck, and Connor Oberst.
Choosing which song to feature on this playlist was not an easy task, because I love them all. I went with Wide Awake because it is so fun to blast in the car. It has a long intro (there are no vocals until a couple minutes in) but it is not in any way boring, as it builds so perfectly up to Dobson's killer vocals and the song only goes up from there.

About the curator - Becky Welch
Becky has been a music-obsessed, compulsive playlist maker and live music enthusiast for as long as she can remember. Few things delight her more than sharing music and geeking out with people who care as much about it as she does. She plays piano and “plays” the ukulele and guitar. She likes almost every genre but is mostly drawn to fun songs that make her dance with abandon.
