Walker Lukens of Austin, Texas, has made a name for himself recently in the Texas indie-rock scene for his inventive songwriting (Free Press Houston called him "one of the best songwriters in Texas," and The Austin Chronicle dubbed him a “non-sexually intimidating version of Prince’”). I would say this song--and the amazing video for it--absolutely validate all those things.
His 2017 album, Tell It To The Judge, which was produced and recorded by Jim Eno (the drummer for Spoon), is one of my favorite albums from the last couple years and it only seems to get better with each listen. The Prince vibes are definitely noticeable in this song. It's catchy, danceable, and infinitely fun to sing along to.

About the curator - Becky Welch
Becky has been a music-obsessed, compulsive playlist maker and live music enthusiast for as long as she can remember. Few things delight her more than sharing music and geeking out with people who care as much about it as she does. She plays piano and “plays” the ukulele and guitar. She likes almost every genre but is mostly drawn to fun songs that make her dance with abandon.
