This week's track is a group effort from Kalis Uchis, Tyler, The Creator, and Bootsy Collins. "After The Storm" is an uplifting and smooth funk r&b track about loving ourselves through the struggles we face in life because we are the only ones that can save ourselves. In addition to the heartwarming message, the rich and colorful instrumental, produced by BADBADNOTGOOD, is filled with nostalgia as it grabs strong influences from the 70s funkadelic sound. This track even features some small but significant contributions from the great funk legend, Bootsy Collins, which only boosts its authenticity.
After a stressful week, just imagine lying on your blanket in a beautiful park as you are engulfed in the glittering synths and rhythmic bass guitar and drums of this masterpiece. Kali Uchis's voice is absolutely dreamy on this song, which only warms your soul as she basically tells you everything will be alright. Tyler The Creator offers a nice change of pace with a quick rap verse that can't help but make you crack a smile. A great way to kick off the playlist with a track that's all about positivity in the form of compassion for ourselves and others; we all want happiness and purpose in our lives.

I am a student at the University of Maryland, College Park where I am studying Criminal Justice and Criminology with a minor in International Development and Conflict Management. After college, I want to get my law degree and practice criminal law. I am also a big music lover that listens to r&b, hip-hop, rock, reggae, and pop. But, I am also trying to expand my taste in music as much as I can to appreciate the different amount of genres out there. I also started a music blog in August 2018; so if you like reading interesting takes on music and concert opinions, then give it a glance.
