18 by Landon Cube is an amazing feel-good alternative vibe that was released before his music reached massive popularity. It's a personal track that Cube wrote when he was, as you may have guessed, eighteen years old.
Taking a different route than usual on the Get Addicted To playlist, this week brings a breath of fresh and organic sounds compared to the bassy filled trap music that usually makes up the playlist. Nonetheless, the track is addictive and is beautifully written. A highlight lyric is "My dad he tells me fight and go and get it on my own / While mama askin why I wanna leave her home alone, come on!" Cube describes the conflicting ideals his parents have for the decisions he wants to make, using his voice as a form of storytelling.
The guitar in the background is a complete vibe. It reminds me of going to the beach as a child and jumping into the ocean, breathing in the fresh salty air and living carefree. 18 is a perfect song to listen to on a warm Summer night while hanging out with some close friends and even better by a beach bonfire. Cube created a track that brings your spirit to life and makes you forget about any current problems.
Landon Cube has a long way to go in his career. While his recent music has developed more into alternative trap and hip-hop, his older styles are just as amazing.
