About this playlist
This our finest selection of influencial tracks for Rusty Jaz MotorFunk. Mostly funk but also instrumental and experimental stuff.
The band started in 2007 as an experimental project to create ambient and cinematographic grooves. At the beginning, it was a duo, studio only project. As we always made collaboration with different musicians, it was natural that it evolved into a live band.
This selection includes classics but also some less known song from famous artist as well as some future classics from emerging bands. It was important for us to feature the funky side of Beck as well as the instrumental side of Beastie Boys as those were game changing in the way we create our music. The two songs from our band that we included are perfect examples of our love for Retro Funk that is well represented in the playlist.

about the artist — Rusty Jaz MotorFunk
Cult band from Quebec City, Canada. Since 2007, Rusty Jaz MotorFunk are known for their cinematographic ambient instrumental music. With the addition of Frank on the guitar in 2019 and of frequent collaborators on keyboards and saxophone for example, the band are now playing the festivals and releasing officials EP. In 2020, they released a first EP, recorded at home during the confinement.
The band members were exchanging tracks over the internet, respecting the rules established during the COVID-19 crisis. The techniques used for creation were rudimentary with limited means but the result is surprising and singular. They played only a few gigs during the summer as the events were very limited. On June 18th, 2021, the band will release their second EP, Confined Funk. Recorded live during fall 2020, this new EP is a good representation of the "Funk Roots" side of the band. They now expect to be touring in the summer depending on the restrictions that will be in place.
