Charlotte Dos Santos is a Norwegian singer and producer whose sound combines old school r'n'b, jazz, Latin and Brazilian music with electronic sounds. Although she grew up in Norway, her father is Brazilian and she listened to a wide range of music growing up. Her influences are showcased in her acclaimed 2017 Fresh Selects release, "Cleo."
The subject matter of "Take it Slow" is a lover who never quite measured up to Charlotte's expectations. But she is able to sing out her disappointment over a persistent sixteenth note kick-snare beat, r'n'b jam- type guitar, and dreamy electronic piano chords. Though the song has a moody, reflective tone, the bridge of the song is upbeat, with Charlotte scatting over the guitar melody. Ultimately, she seems to have a sense of humor about the situation, telling her lover: "no need to go on/ you're preaching to the choir."

About the Curator, Caitlin Moss:
Drum set player and percussionist Caitlin Moss was born and raised in Los Angeles. She has performed at such venues as the Skirball Center and the Ford Amphitheatre and has toured nationally and internationally, including performances in Mexico and Cuba, with Grammy-winning bands La Santa Cecilia and Quetzal. She performs and records in Los Angeles as a freelance musician and as a member of several original bands. Caitlin is also teaching drum set, percussion, piano, and music production classes at a youth arts center operated by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
