A few weeks ago Brooklyn-based rapper Mario Dones submitted this track, and it seamlessly fits into the playlist both sonically and thematically. The lyrics use the relatable issue of having car problems to express the desire to keep pushing forward even when everything seems to be going wrong. Dones admits, "sometimes I miss my exit just so I can clear my mind," a modern Zen-like response to the stresses of daily life.
The soul song sampled and looped for "Car Phone Confessions" creates a silky soft foundation for Dones' rhythmically dynamic, smooth delivery. This track will remind you not to take life too seriously - and keep your eyes on the prize - over a soulful, laid back groove.

Drum set player and percussionist Caitlin Moss was born and raised in Los Angeles. She has performed at such venues as the Skirball Center and the Ford Amphitheatre and has toured nationally and internationally, including performances in Mexico and Cuba, with Grammy-winning bands La Santa Cecilia and Quetzal. She performs and records in Los Angeles as a freelance musician and as a member of several original bands. Caitlin is also teaching drum set, percussion, piano, and music production classes at a youth arts center operated by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
