Oooh baby this guy has got me so stoked on music right now. As someone who is constantly on the search for new sounds, I absolutely revel in the feeling of pure bliss when I hear something that reinvigorates my zest for music. I particularly resonate with Sven Gamsky on a personal level the more I dive into his creative process. Going by the name Still Woozy, he describes himself as a pretty out of it guy most of the time. As much as that sounds a bit odd and maybe even off putting to some, I think there is something to be said about the ability to retreat and sit in our minds that greatly alters our perceptions on this world. With so much stimulation in our lives, the ability to follow our minds where it actually wants to be is incredibly enlightening. It’s like a meditation practice but rather than letting your mind go blank you allow your thoughts to run free. Not in a chaotic way but rather allowing space and a channel to your suppressed thoughts and feelings that need acknowledgement. I would like to think this is the sort of place Sven is exploring in his mind when he creates his music.
The track “Wolfcat” is the all too relatable feeling of our longings for loved ones. The ones we just met that occupy the entirety of your thoughts. Longings to those that hold a place forever on our minds even when memories of them have long faded away and have left behind only the strongest ones. The ones that maybe ended the relationship or at least changed it significantly. But we would do it over and over again. We would feel these things over and over. The whole song just reminds me of one very particular feeling. The sort of unbearable tug towards someone that is so overwhelming it can leave us feeling nothing else. Just this magnetic tug.
I look forward to being in the presence of Gamsky one day soon at a show. I have no doubt it will be an enlightening experience and a party all in one.

About The Curator - Maria Fish
You can most often find Maria in her garden humming along to an eclectic playlist titled “Life’s a Garden, Dig It” and of course tending to her beloved plants. This garden is located on the island of Kaua’i at her childhood home surrounded by tropical fruit trees and flowers. Beautiful music has always gone hand in hand with the beauty of the island. Just as she nurtures her plants, she looks forward to nurturing this playlist and the community of music lovers that feel like stopping by and having a listen.
