At a time that simmers in fragility and fear - words are paralyzing. Sharing feels weighted in heavy uncertainty. Uncertainty that grows and festers and feeds on us all. Deep in desolation - the world dances to an unfamiliar rhythm.
At a time of such desolation - there still remains warmth in an open hearted collection of the soft and strange. Haley Heynderickx is the sun as she grows and nurtures words of bewildering beauty. Sat in the sounds of “The Bug Collector” - a poem of sorts was written on an early grey morning seeking to outgrow and replace roots currently planted in fear.
wish our belongings were built by the bugs
is our sense of belonging a broken mirage?
a dream where we gardened
dug souls in the dirt
a dream we’ve dreamt often
shared these thoughts with the worms
watched fear fill the soil
let it feed on the roots
with only fear left to feed us
will fear feed on the world?
with hidden hungry voices
the starvation of tones
we cried for the taste of love back
but love has yet to return to our tongues

About The Curator - Maria Fish
You can most often find Maria in her garden humming along to an eclectic playlist titled “Life’s a Garden, Dig It” and of course tending to her beloved plants. This garden is located on the island of Kaua’i at her childhood home surrounded by tropical fruit trees and flowers. Beautiful music has always gone hand in hand with the beauty of the island. Just as she nurtures her plants, she looks forward to nurturing this playlist and the community of music lovers that feel like stopping by and having a listen.
