The desire to deliver beautiful words and words that leave an imprint on the mind can often leave one in a paralyzing state of creative despair. Loving is a sound where the imprint is deep and words are soaked in life lived amongst the creative despair. David Parry, Lucas Henderson and Jesse Henderson ooze with fuzzy warmth intimately intertwined through slowly tumbling soundwaves. Dissolving into minds like sugar forms into wine - falling swiftly into a state of dizzy drunken dancing - colliding with each and every delicate creation they form.
“Nihilist Kite Flyer” is a song with sweet tender tones begging for deeper contemplation. Loving moulds their creations with warm vocals that allow you to wander through a world of softer sounds. To feel as though you are suspended in time like glistening dust in warm afternoon light. To feel warmth in somber words. Reminiscent of feelings both light and dark that inhabit most minds most of the time.
The soul of this song is lost and never quite found. A tune stitched into hand knit sweaters and baked in bubbling apple pie on a rainy afternoon. A tune flowing between states of being and settling separately into seasons. Felt warmly in the summer and somber in the fall. But perhaps we aren't meant to feel anything at all.
It is with a weeping heart that I send lots of love their way. The trio was joined on their most recent tour by the beautiful Bren Davidson who recently passed away beyond this earthside. I felt called to share this song and grasp some of the beauty that Bren spread during his time amongst this universe. A loving note of sorts and a thanks for leaving your kind imprint on the world of sounds.
Wonder below with their words:
Am I living my life
As if I'm flying a kite
Without a string
Without any meaning
All through the day
All through the night
Asking myself
When I just might
When I just might be found
When I just might see clearly
When I just might be found
With my feet upon the ground
And though I always wanted an answer
Now I know better
Or am I just blind
By the need to be defined
Caught in between
Who I am and who I will be
And though I always wanted an answer
Now I know better
Or am I just the one
Drifting to close

About The Curator - Maria Fish
You can most often find Maria in her garden humming along to an eclectic playlist titled “Life’s a Garden, Dig It” and of course tending to her beloved plants. This garden is located on the island of Kaua’i at her childhood home surrounded by tropical fruit trees and flowers. Beautiful music has always gone hand in hand with the beauty of the island. Just as she nurtures her plants, she looks forward to nurturing this playlist and the community of music lovers that feel like stopping by and having a listen.
