Still a fairly new band, Hales Corner was formed around 2015 through the collaborative efforts of Wes Cook and Caleb Adams. People of the world, they are SO worth the listen.
The band was given the sound title of “lazy sunshine rock” and I find that the description fits their style about as well as your favorite sweater. It is a bit of a contradicting term as the bubbly bright acoustics hide some of their more elusive and gloomy lyrics. This combination creates a really refreshing perspective on an all too familiar feeling of the post college distraught millennial.
This tune in particular discusses the inevitable existential crisis that ensues when one has to really think about what they want to get out of this life. A couple lines state the following. “Forming the dreams that we’re bound to give up on / I can see fate like rocks under pond scum”. As much as this relates to the young adult generation of this decade, I truly believe it is also something we all go through at multiple stages of our lives. If there is anything to take from this song, it is that no one is immune to the feeling of utter confusion when we are faced with all the pressures of the human experience. Take a deep breath friends and remember that we are exactly where we are meant to be. Preferably grooving to some great music.

About The Curator - Maria Fish
You can most often find Maria in her garden humming along to an eclectic playlist titled “Life’s a Garden, Dig It” and of course tending to her beloved plants. This garden is located on the island of Kaua’i at her childhood home surrounded by tropical fruit trees and flowers. Beautiful music has always gone hand in hand with the beauty of the island. Just as she nurtures her plants, she looks forward to nurturing this playlist and the community of music lovers that feel like stopping by and having a listen.
