Well hello to you April, how did you come about so fast then? Thank god you did, I am so desperate to get myself into a beer garden on the 12th it’s untrue… and I don’t even like beer all that much!
My ‘March’ playlist looks pretty hectic if I’m being honest, but I’m high-key loving it. From Dua Lipa (who I’ll happily admit that I’d marry in a heartbeat) to the UK Northern band Squid to discovering Courtney Barnett and Alice Phoebe Lou (because yes, apparently I must have been living under a rock for 21 years). I’m feeling good that it’s looking quite diverse this month; I often worry that I’m a one-road-warrior for Neo-Soul, especially given my playlist ‘Music to Erykah Badu’s Lovechild’. I’m happy that I deliberately left that playlist open to genre hybrids, because this months additions definitely push the boat out.
We have tracks from Alice Phoebe Lou, Mr Jukes ft Elli Ingram, and Lake Street Dive. I can definitely tell that the arrival of Spring has affected my mood for the better (not that I was a moody so-and-so before, but you get me). The tracks are upbeat, bob-your-head-along jobbies and I couldn’t recommend them more. Although it scares the daylight out of me that my phone seems to know more about me than myself, I have to thank it for noticing my enjoyment of the Lake Street Dive track and plugging an Instagram cover of it by Laufey and Lizzy McAlpine. Not only do they do a ridiculously good version of ‘Hypotheticals’, but they also have other great music which I fully intend to delve into this month. Laufey in particular, has a voice that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Other amazing instagram covers this week include Jacob Collier X Yebba doing ‘A Bridge Over Troubled Water’. Call me dramatic, but I genuinely had to take 20 minutes to recover. Check out the ‘good shiz’ highlight on @erykahbaduslovechild on Instagram to see it for yourself.
OG tracks on the playlist that I keep coming back to this month have all been by Ms. Lauryn Hill. Music I can dance to seems to be the theme, even my poor housemate who has been working crazy hours in hospital can’t help a little dance when I whack Lauryn on! For that reason, ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ has to be my track of the month.

About The Curator - Lizzy Wood
Hey, I’m Lizzy! I am a Music and Law student at the University of Liverpool. I am passionate about maintaining artistic integrity in an increasingly commercialised industry, particularly for young and inexperienced female artists. My aim is to develop, promote and encourage women in music. I enjoy a variety of music genres. If I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be R&B/Soul. Jazz also comes into the mix... how could it not?!
Alongside my degree I enjoy managing an artist, Greta Lovisa, as well as leading both small-scale and large-scale charitable music events.
