About this Playlist
If the Asian elephant comes to mind when picturing this big majestic mammal, you’re in the right place, because I’ve got elephant songs for you! Of course, I only have seven elephant songs, which doesn’t seem like a lot in retrospect. However, when the likes of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, Blonde Redhead, Freya Ridings et al., are singing, each one is worth a hundred elephant songs! Nevertheless, you might be wondering what else I’ve got up my sleeve.
I’ve taken this playlist opportunity to add some of my favorite bands like Dengue Fever and Saigon Soul Revival, and I’ve included some fantastic instrumental pieces by artists like Caitlin Yeo to set the mood in Mainland Southeast Asia. I’ve thrown in some tracks about rivers, and mosquitos, though not specifically SEA mosquitos — unfortunately they exist everywhere — and I’ve also included some Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam bands like Limebócx and Yellow Fang, who I discovered along the way. Hopefully listening to ‘Elephants in the Realm of Golden Rivers’ will lead you discovering something new to enjoy, too!
