Some artists are consistently good until they have that one hit that certifies their stardom. Detroit native Bob Seger started out in the 60s and had local success. He had his first national hit with "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" in 1969 when he was the Bob Seger System. By 1973, he formed the Silver Bullet Band with some local musicians and they had moderate success until "Night Moves" was released in 1976 from the album of the same name. The single climbed to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and solidified him as a national treasure.
"Beautiful Loser" Bob Seger has a way with words and is a gifted storyteller. With his signature sandpaper voice and "blue collar" style, he told a story of young love, as remembered by the person when they're older in "Night Moves." It's a reflection on love, innocence, loss and heartache told with a gritty reminiscence. One can almost feel the balmy summer night breeze this song evokes. It's warm and intense, sung with a cadence of longing. The song, like the era, has heart and soul.
