Turkish psychedelia, surf, punk, rock’n roll and a lot more! Our very own Gaye Su Akyol is back with a single from her upcoming album with the same name: İstikikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir (Consistent Fantasy Is Reality). She explains that “the song adresses nothing less than ‘the great crisis of existence.’” Always referencing the space, unknown galaxies and precious dreams, GSA tells us to dream, dream and dream.
As known from the previous works of GSA, she blends rock’n roll, surf and punk with traditional Turkish scales. This song is no different. However, it contains many new and different instruments. The baseline is richer and more complicated and there are many sounds that cannot be understood if not listened carefully. Keep up your originality in a country that may have lost its soul, GSA. You remind us every day that the universe is beyond our perception of reality.
(GSA’s upcoming album İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir will be released on October 26th.)
