Mehmet Güreli is a Turkish writer, painter, director and musician born in 1949 in Istanbul, Turkey. He graduated from Istanbul University, majoring in Philosophy. He started working in Hürriyet newspaper in 1976. He is one of the few Turkish artists producing in different art areas.
His songs are usually melancholic and about love. He has some instrumental songs and also songs in foreign languages. Mehmet Güreli’s songs remind me of my best friend’s house because his father’s favorite artist was Mehmet Güreli. We would be in the house and there would be the subtle sound of music coming from the CD player in the living room. At that time, I did not pay close attention to the melodies. But now I understand that the music I heard in that house was very valuable.
