“The King of Rock”, Erkin Koray is one of the fathers of Turkish psychedelic rock music. He is one of the three legends of the genre. The others are Barış Manço and Cem Karaca. He has a great voice and unique guitar skills but also he is an inventor, he invented the famous instrument, electric bağlama (saz). He is also an intellectual and a famous rebel of his time.
He is famous for blending classic Turkish and Middle Eastern sounds with Western rock music creating his own psych-driven style. His first records are nearly impossible to find and they are sold for really expensive prices. For music enthusiasts and collectors, his records are like gold dust.
