Based in İstanbul, three rock ’n’ roll lovers formed the heavy rock ‘n’ roll band, The Ringo Jets. Tarkan Mertoğlu and Deniz Ağan on guitars and Lale Kardeş on drums, The Ringo Jets have been shaking the underground scene since the end of 2011. Their songs are in English and some of them are instrumental, unlike other bands in Turkey. They were the opening-act for bands like The Sonics, Pixies and Portishead.
Their sound is heavy, loud and expressive. They are mostly influenced by Delta Blues of Son House and Howlin’ Wolf, Bo Diddley, The Who, The Sonics, The Kinks from the 60′s, then The Stooges, MC5 and Black Flag following them along with SS Decontrol, The Gories and Flat Duo Jets. They are consistently trying to feed themselves with music all around the world.
“In fact, only two words can describe the band;
Raw Music.”
Unfortunately, I believe that they are more popular in Europe than they are in İstanbul. This may be because Turkish people are not used to Turkish bands with English lyrics. Despite that, they are trying to bring a change to that. (Fun fact: I saw them live and caught Lale’s drumsticks:))

About the curator - Ada Bayramoglu
Ada is a high schooler from İstanbul who cannot be seen without her headphones. She is a “support your local” kind of girl who knows all the best places to drink coffee in her hometown. Her subconscious is full of “Turkish Classical Music”, which she has been listening to since she was born. She likes everlasting conversations with her friends about music and art. If you don’t know where she is just look at the nearest concert hall and she’ll be there.
