About this Playlist
What does it all mean?
“They don’t understand/how the last card is played/but/somehow it implies/a connection is made” – Elastica, Connection
Time to bring it all home…
I’ve spent a lot of time jaw-jacking about music and cannabis and cannabis and music and how it’d be so great if we could live in a world where we could be more open about cannabis and music and how it’s all connected, yadda, yadda yadda…
There is, however, a method to my madness.
A broken clock is right at least twice a day.
There is more to this. Even more than I realize or comprehend.
I don’t have many beliefs. Beliefs are implied to be empirical, and that’s where conflict and arguments arise.
But there is one thing I do believe in.
I believe that there is an inherent connection in all things. An invisible, intangible energy they share.
It is through those connections that powerful energies can be drawn on to do bigger and better things, things beyond our range of comprehension.
From the first time we experience, to the feelings we feel, to the sources of inspiration to the reason we create in response.
We are sending signals to those who share a similar mindset.
Nothing exists on its own. What seems singular is in fact a complex series of systems within a centralized entity.
A star is a compressed a volatile mix of atoms colliding at the sped of light constantly, generating light and heat.
A series of decaying star matter revolving around a star creates a system.
A series of systems rotating around a matter devouring supermassive black hole creates a galaxy.
A gathering of neurons and synapses firing and sparking forms a brain.
A complex system of nerves, vessels, muscles and bones can form a body.
When molecules gather and vibrate at the same frequency, cool shit can and often does occur.
Yeah, I know sometimes humans can be a massive pain in the rectum, but our track record for cool shit is fairly impressive.
Because deep down, we recognize the only way we’re gonna make it is together with co-operation.
Fact.
“It’s not important for you to know my name
Nor I to know yours
If we communicate for two minutes only
It will be enough” – The Jam, Start
Music, at the end of the day, whether curated or composed, is a language. A song or a playlist could tell you more about a person than if they decided to write a detailed biography. Music strips that individual to their core essence. It is their soul and emotions laid bare. That degree of nakedness is raw and vulnerable. It is a greeting and a gift of recognition, a sign of kinship, a soulmate request.
Connect enough of these like minds, and who knows what could be accomplished with focus and direction?
I would not have known the many worlds I frequently travel to had it not been for someone putting a pair of headphones over my ears and had me listen to Dark Side Of The Moon.
Ever since that moment, I’ve been sharing my feelings on the matter with as many people as I can.
But for what purpose? To what end?
Simply put, world domination. No other reason.
“Get it on!/Get it on!/On the day/you got born!” – Grinderman, Get It On
A person much wiser than your humble narrator told me that if you wanted to create a better world, you first start by helping your mother with the dishes.
What they meant is that most people are so obsessed with the large grand gesture, that they lose sight of the fact that it’s the little daily small gestures that have more of an impact.
If we focus on doing one small good deed every day, we develop a regular system of good. Enough people doing this at a micro level will yield macro results.
If Oppenheimer can harness that power to split an atom, then it stands to reason that we humans can harness that power to do things in the name of justice, peace, love, equality and fairness.
We get there by acknowledging each other and our humanity.
We are many, from many different places. We think, talk, act, worship, eat, sleep and listen to different things.
We are a suburban mom in Northern California. We are an engineering student in Mumbai. We are a server at a tapas bar in Madrid. We are young parents working multiple jobs in Rome. We are street vendors making ends meet in Lagos.
We. Are.
In our shared love of music and cannabis, we can, and should recognize our humanity, but more importantly, our power to enact change, revolution and evolution.
Because that’s where it’s at.
Keep it weird. Share and spread.
