Kamasi Washington is one of the hottest artists in jazz right now, Part of the same LA jazz scene as Thundercat, Kamasi Washington has gained immense credibility in his work with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Lauryn Hill and Snoop Dogg but it is his solo work that really shines on.
This tune is a complex but gorgeous voyage into the come down. There's some perfectly cosmic about the horns working with the vibes and indeed vibrant drums that wash this composition, the choral voices come in and it's lift off to another galaxy. If this is Kamasi Washington's Truth, I feel like I've stared into his soul and journey through it to the come down.
This tune is for the longer journeys home as it is a 13.5 minute long composition but it is the come down wormhole where you journey through its shimmering centre to come out in a new state of mind and being. In a world of fake, enjoy the sounds of truth.
