This song comes directly from road testing, on a drive back from playing at kendal calling our bass player turn off the cd player to see what was on the radio and tuned into BBC radio 3 for their WOMAD coverage an as soon as we heard this tune we were transfixed seeing what wasn't there on the unfurling road debating furiously where the music came from. I knew it sounded Italian but there was something remarkably polish about the fiddle style, turns out it is from Sicily.
Italian folk music is where it is at on the world music festival scene, a folk tradition that has matured in villages and towns hugging the mediterranean telling stories of old beliefs and new experiences, which is finally finding the ears beyond the borders. This song is the intrigue you need to focus and meditate the mind into the come down and its intricacies let you fall between the melodies and into the state of mind every come down needs.
