After a long winded following of the likes of Husker Du, Black Flag and the Underbelly Punk scene, Steve Earle was the man that introduced me to Folk, Bluegrass and all things Americana in the mid 90s. With a stint in remote Indigenous Communities of the Northern Territory of Australia with red dust blazing behind the car, and a Rum between my legs, Steve and the Dukes opened up a whole new World.
Furthermore the Big Mans love of Steve made the heart grow fonder and I wanted to find the connection with this Artist who I'd recently so easily disregarded.
So in recent times Steve Earle has played a massive part in my Music consumption, and is Someone I love and respect on so many levels and so the Track I want to share with you this week is "Jericho Road".
WHY
So I had received a letter from the State possibly Five years ago now telling of my Biological Mother trying to make contact, which gave me a major shake up and was the start of my Depression, loss of Identity and the Emotional Fucking Train Wreck I'd become... In the last six months I have finally found the courage to call Annie (my Birth Mother) after many letters, and unresponsive messages Annie left on the machine, I finally made THE CALL.
Regrettably,I'd left it to late, Annie had been placed in full time care in a Dementia Unit and I was politely advised not call due to Her Health.
