After a series of IG posts focused on the famous middle children, J. Cole delivers his first traditional single in five years titled “Middle Child”.
Cole’s reference of being a middle child isn’t literal, but refers to his status of being little bro to the likes of Jay-Z and Nas, but big bro to the likes of Lil Pump and YBN Cordae within the Hip Hop family tree. The single also shows the continual tide change for Cole who not only spent the last half of 2018 bodying every feature that came his way, along with Cole’s first single release since his 2014 album aptly named “2014 Forest Hills Drive”.
Middle Child is produced by T-Minus, another rarity for Cole who usually prefers his production over most other producers. Cole’s recent resurgence of use of outside production and features has the hip hop world in frenzy, leaving many to wonder if there would be an album that would follow suit.
Cole Raps: “Fuck if you feel me, you ain't got a choice, Now I ain't do no promo, still made all that noise, This year gon' be different, I set my intentions, I promise to slap all that hate out your voice”.
Middle Child is the first release since 2018’s platinum “KOD”. Cole will be featured along with the Dreamville squad on the upcoming: “Return of the Dreamers 3”.
