Los Angeles rapper KR rings in the New Year with his new single “It’s On”. Since I first heard him in a Raw Paper freestyle with Curren$y and Burner I’ve followed his career closely. With rumors ranging from possibly signing to TDE to being the industry’s biggest ghost writer, he is on the path to superstardom. If he is ghost writing for rap’s elite, it makes complete sense to me because he is so versatile, and when you go back and listen to his catalog you will be able to envision your favorite artist utilizing this man’s talents. KR Raps,
“Said it, then I wrote it, and I'm just keeping it real
I'm saving the game forever, y'all signing miniature deals
You Poppin' pills, you dope
Starting beef, you pose
Aim the gun but don't pop it, get caught by your P.O”
What I appreciate about KR is the fact that to him consistency is key. Putting an emphasis on constantly creating a good product will speak for itself. In my opinion more artists period, need to embrace this philosophy instead trying to fit into the industry mold for a quick buck. Even if he doesn’t blow up on the mainstream, he will have a loyal fanbase and will easily eat off touring and releasing music independently.
