Los Angeles based progressive metal band Intronaut unleashed a new record this year. Pangloss was the second "single" released in January and instantly reinforced my love for this band and their unique and masterful amalgam of metal riffage, jazz, and ambient textures.
Like all of their songs this track is a great example of super tight odd time metal that makes you want to keep turning the volume up and their softer side. Each musician has a unique and powerful voice. Bassist Joe Lester is one of the most unique metal bassists (one of my favorites) and pushes the band on with both power and grace. At 3:40 the feel switches to an ambient and spacey feel which shows off how they can tone it down and add sensitivity and nuance to the genre before kicking back into the heaviness. This song will get your blood pumping from start to finish.

About The Curator - Danny Gordon
Danny's love affair with music started around the time he could walk. He spent countless hours in front of the record player going through his parents collection and experimented with playing violin, piano, and guitar before finding his voice on the bass in his teens.
Danny began playing in local bands in Los Angeles while studying music, eventually landing at Berklee College of Music in 1998. Following his graduation in 2001 Danny returned home and continued his career as a recording and touring bassist, most notably working with former STP singer Scott Weiland.
Danny continues to stay active in the local scene and is a devoted father teaching his children about the music he loves.
